Farrakhan speaks to University of Belize Student Body

Minister of the Nation of Islam Louis Farrakhan continues his six-day visit to Belize and on Tuesday he sat down with community activists at the UWI Open Campus in Belize City to talk about their role in “participatory democracy.” Farrakhan spoke of the role of activists in society today:

Louis Farrakhan – Minister of the Nation of Islam:
So an activist today is a valuable person for the future of the country.  But activists must not just be activists because you don’t like this one or that one.  We must be activists for something bigger than ourselves, and the biggest thing in Belize is Belize itself.  And when we love Belize more than love our Party, more than we love the personality of the person for whom we are voting, them our interest is not in what you say, our interest is in what you do.

vlcsnap-2013-03-06-18h51m11s132Farrakhan also gave an example of the kind of work activists can do – a land program remarkably similar to that organized by the Belize Grassroots Youth Empowerment Association (BGYEA) at Harmonyville on the Western Highway.  In keeping with his schedule, today, Farrakhan was in Belmopan speaking to Secondary and Tertiary students. Students from the University of Belize, Belmopan Comprehensive, Belmopan Baptist and other individuals filled the UB Gymnasium this morning to hear from the  79YR OLD. He spoke firstly about finding one’s purpose and obtaining a job relevant to that function.

Louis Farrakhan – Minister of the Nation of Islam:
Whatever you love to do and whatever you do will is more than likely what you’re born in this world to do. And when you discover your purpose, and you are blessed to be working to fulfill your purpose, that’s not work, that’s a labour of love.  But when you leave here, and you’ve got to accept a job that you didn’t like, some position that you didn’t want, something that just grates against you because you’re not fulfilling your purpose, but you’re doing it for a paycheck so that you can maintain a certain standard of living, you are not yet fulfilled.

Farrakhan then spoke about education. He says that an education is just not a degree, but it should equip and empower one to be productive.

Louis Farrakhan – Minister of the Nation of Islam:
So education, real education, is an access to the power that will allow you to do exactly what God gave instructions at Adam to do, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it.  Multiply doesn’t just mean have children, although that’s vlcsnap-2013-03-07-07h28m10s209part of it, but that’s certainly not all of it. Multiply.  When you multiply  you have a multiplier, a multiplicand, and what’s next? A product. So God made every human being to be a producer, and if you produce nothing, then you have not fulfilled the command to multiply.  And when you discover that gift. that is what you can do perfectly, if you cultivate that gift.  So education is not only to lead us out of darkness into light, weakness into strength or power, but education is to lead that gift out. So that when you know your purpose in life, and you cultivate your gift, in cultivation of your gift and offering you gift to make a better society and a better world, you are actually glorifying God.

But today’s address was not only to the students. Farrakhan says that Politics and Education need to work together as an inferior education cannot produce a superior society.

Louis Farrakhan – Minister of the Nation of Islam:
vlcsnap-2013-03-07-07h37m23s106Wouldn’t it be horrible to take people’s money for an education and then not equip them with that education, to go out this school and make a difference.
Politics and education have to work together, and Government has to see that if the education that the people are receiving is inferior, then the student of an inferior education cannot produce a superior society.

Minister Farrakhan then went on the Spanish Lookout this afternoon where he toured and met with the Mennonite community. Farrakhan will be addressing the inmates of the Kolbe Foundation tomorrow.
