Reports of a traffic accident on the road to Benque Viejo on Wednesday evening prompted Benque Viejo police to visit an area between miles 69 and 70 on the George Price Highway, near the Clarissa Fall junction.
According to reports, at around 7:35 pm on Wednesday February 18th, a grey Nissan Altima, driven by 29 year old Edgar Can of Corozalitos in the Cha Creek Area, drove off the highway, breaking through the fence lining.
Sources say that two American tourists heading to Clarissa falls were the only witnesses to the horrible accident. As soon as they saw what had happened, they reportedly began flagging down vehicles on the highway to ask for help. As soon as someone stopped, they started looking for the vehicle ,which had gone across the natural drainage system.
Edgar Can is believed to have been trapped inside the wreckage for about 3 hours.
Police are still trying to piece together the circumstances surrounding this fatal traffic accident.
