Police are seeking one man whom they believe was involved in a fatal hit and run incident which claimed the life of one Carlota Contreras on Friday evening. According to police reports, sometime around 5:30 pm on Friday last week, police responded to a road traffic accident between miles 23 and 24 on the Southern Highway. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities observed a green and white Meilun brand motor cycle with Dangriga issued license plates. The motor cycle, which was found lying on the right hand side of the road when travelling on the Southerm Highway from Mayan King towards Santa Rosa village, had damages to its front fenders and head lights. The victim of the road trafficking accident was 47 year old Carlota Contreras, a Honduran House wife of Santa Cruz village, Stann Creek who, according to authorities, was standing on the side of the road when she was knocked down. The police is presently investigating the matter however the police were informed that on Saturday the person passed away due to the injuries.

Authorities are now seeking the public’s assistance in providing any information that may assist them in locating the driver of the motorcycle, one who is known to them as Abelino Matamoro. Investigations continue.
