The National Agriculture and Trade Show, one of the most anticipated events of the year, took place over the weekend. This year’s agric show saw thousands of people from across the country visit the show grounds. But with such a high turnout of people, security is always a concern. On Saturday May 2nd, at around 10 o clock in the evening, 24 year old Darnel Brown was fatally stabbed to the head with a knife during an altercation with three others while at the show grounds. Authorities transported Brown to the Western Regional Hospital with the knife still lodged in his head, and he was later transported to the Karl Huesner Memorial hospital. Officer Commanding Belmopan Police Station, Superintendent Howell Gillett, told us more.
“We’ve got support from San Ignacio and Benque Viejo as well as headquarters personnel. We all formed a part of the uniform policing detail. We also enlisted the support of the Gang Suppression Unit of Belize City, the M.I.T, Mobile Interdiction Team, the Special Patrol Unit. We had our traffic officers in full, we also got the traffic officers from the City Council to assist us. We did not have any major incidents as it relates to traffic. However, there was a stabbing within the ground on Saturday night some time after 10:30 pm. A person later learned to be Darnell Brown, he is a Belizean of Hattieville Village, was stabbed to the head one time. The person was taken to the Western Regional Hospital and later to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital .”

“It seemed that an argument erupted and it was during the process, he was stabbed to the head. We now have in our custody, one Kumaun Dawson and we are looking for one Dean Galvez, also known as Paradise of Roaring Creek and Sharif Anderson Andrewin of Cotton Tree Village.”
Information to Plus News is that Darnel Brown succumbed to his injuries earlier today. Police expect to lay charges soon.
