The incident happened on the Savannah Road near Independence village around 7:15 this morning. According to Independence police, the yellow passenger bus was travelling in the direction of Independence village when a gray Toyota Previa minivan travelling from the opposite direction swerved off to the other side of the lane and crashed head first into the yellow school bus. Driving the minivan at the time was William Alexander Anderson, a resident of Monkey River Village.
Anderson, who we understand was a former chairman of the village, reportedly died on the spot. About five students travelling in the yellow passenger bus were treated at the Independence poly clinic for minor injuries. The cops are yet to determine the cause of the incident.
