Fatal traffic accident on the Hummingbird Highway

vlcsnap-2013-05-17-21h14m51s121A man lost his life in an accident this morning on the Hummingbird Highway. 50 year old George Crawford was traveling to Belmopan, when he lost control of his truck. In attempt to save his life, Crawford leaped out of the vehicle, but unfortunately he didn’t make it. Harry Arzu, has the details.

A fatal traffic accident that occurred this morning has claimed the life of one person.  The incident happened at about 9 a.m. between mile 28 and mile 29 on the Hummingbird Highway.  The victim has been identified as 50 years old George Crawford, the driver of a dump-truck at the time of the accident. According to reports Mr Crawford was on his way to Belmopan, with a truck-load of sand and gravel from Dangriga.  Upon reaching the said location, the vehicle started to experience mechanical problems and began to roll backwards, which caused Mr Crawford to lose control of the vehicle.  Reports indicate that George Crawford jumped out of the moving vehicle that ended up in a ditch. He sustained head and body injuries and was found dead on the location.
