Felicia Chen, the woman accused of murdering her three small children in April, was before the Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning. The Twenty-two year old Felicia Chen faces three counts of murder for the deaths of 4 year old Triana, 3 year old Thomas and 1 year old Trinaya Teul. She allegedly drowned her children in the sea near Belizean Beach on April twenty seventh. Ms Chen’s hearing was held en camera before Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith. Yesterday, the court accepted the Government psychiatrist’s report which declared that Felicia Chen was no longer an immediate danger to herself and fit to stand trial. Chen was being held at the Belmopan psychiatric ward since her arrest as she was considered severely depressed and a danger to herself.Felicia Chen’s next court appearance is set for November 8th but she was not sent back to the psychiatric ward in Belmopan until then. Instead she was remanded to the Central Prison in Hattieville until her next court appearance. Now that Felicia Chen has been certified as fit to stand trial, the court proceedings will no longer be held en camera but will be open to the media.
