This morning 22 year old Felicia Chen returned to court where after further reports on her mental status, the court ordered remand to the same psychiatric mental facility she was housed at in Belmopan until June 21. As with prior proceedings, the matter was conducted in-camera with the presence of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Cheryl-Lynn Vidal and Chen’s attorney Antoinette Moore, SC, neither of whom wished to comment on the record. Chen herself maintained her steadfast avoidance of the press, ducking behind her handlers as she was whisked from court. She is accused of drowning her three youngest children ages 1, 3 and 4 at Belizean Beach on April 27, attempting to drown her eldest, aged 6, who ran off and alerted passersby who in turn called police, and thereafter was rescued while attempting to drown herself. She has been diagnosed with severe depression.
