There are rumblings in the Football Federation of Belize ,rumblings reminiscent of the last days of the former FFB president Bertie Chimillo. We understand that later this month, elections are to be held for district Football Association and next month these district committees will be voting for the National Executive including the position of President. Several individuals have been pushing for new slates in their respective districts to contest the elections but lists had to be submitted in some cases to the very incumbent they wanted to run against. Now nominations are closing Monday with several individuals not knowing where to submit their list. The situation has spiraled to the point where an executive meeting has been called at the FFB Headquarters in Belmopan, a meeting without president Ruperto Vicente. The speculation is that there is an attempt to manipulate the results of District Associations so that the national election itself could be predetermined. Just before 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, officials began streaming into the FFB headquarters ..at our news time on Thursday, that meeting was still ongoing. We will hopefully have statements from those in attendance in our subsequent newscast.
