There was fire in Spanish Lookout this evening; no one was injured. It happened at the Country Foods warehouse where Spanish Lookout fire officials and BNE officials worked at containing the blaze. By the time the fire was extinguished, the warehouse and its contents were completely destroyed but the other buildings in the area and the vehicles that were nearby are all intact. According to preliminary investigations, garbage was being burned in the area and it is believed that a west blowing wind blew a few sparks into the paper egg cartons in storage which ignited and caused the blaze. A company representative that we spoke with told us that they intend to rebuild rapidly and they expect to back in operation in a few days. The company sells commodities such as rice, beans, and corn countrywide and is well known for their eggs. At our news time, fire fighters and officials from the company are on the scene assessing the extent of the damage.
