Fire in Belmopan leaves family homeless

vlcsnap-2013-06-14-19h32m29s163Two houses were burnt to the ground last night in Belmopan on Panama Street in the Salva Pan area. It happened shortly after 6 o’clock. Owner of one of the homes, Yolanda Saki, says that her daughter had recently gone to a nearby store and left her five grandchildren with her. Saki said it was very hot inside and so she took the kids outside. Not even ten minutes later, she says she heard a loud bang from inside the house and thereafter the house caught on fire. Despite efforts to contain the fire, both homes and their contents were completely destroyed. Police say the cause of the fire is not yet known.
