First Arrest in Four Murders

There has been an increase of crimes related to murder and attempted murder in the Vicinity of Belmopan and police are a little behind on the cases. However, Belmopan Police made their first arrest on the four murder cases for this year. As we told you in yesterday’s newscast, Belmopan Police arrested and charged 19 year old Hue Milton for the murder of 30 year old Elroy Ramirez who was shot dead inside a yard in the Another World Area Roaring Creek  on Thursday March 5th. Milton appeared at the Magistrate’s court on Tuesday earlier this week to answer to charges of murder. The case was adjourned until the 11th of June 2015. Officer Commanding Belmopan Police gave us an update today on the murder and also on the shooting incident that occurred Sunday March 8th.

Supt. HOWELL GILLETT –  Officer in Command of the Belmopan Police Station

“There were – I think it was four murders for this year in the Roaring Creek area. We’ve just recently ,as a matter of fact,  as last week Friday, we  have arrested one person for murder, you know.  And then, there is this last shooting that happened on Sunday. We are still pending on making an arrest in that case.  We have some suspects who we are looking for but we haven’t been able to capture them at this moment.”
