Yesterday, Florencio Pop was successful in getting his 15 years sentence reduced to 8 years. Pop, along with his attorney, Oscar Selgado, appeared before Justice Dennis Hanomansingh who handed down his previous sentence 5 years ago. When Pop appeared before Justice Hanomansingh, under the advice of his attorney, he changed his plea from not guilty of murder to guilty of manslaughter. Pop’s new plea was accepted by the court. As a result, Pop will now only serve 8 years in prison retroactive to March 2012.
