The annual Footbolito in Independence village kicked off this past Sunday, with a march around the community which ended at the Micheal Ashcroft Stadium, where the first set of games were played. The tournament is an annual event which held under the chairmanship of the Village, Antonio Zabaneh, and the village council. The games will be played every Sunday leading up to the tenth day of September, when the finals will be played. This year’s tournament will see 6 teams participating in the junior category and 6 teams participating in the senior category. This community event is being done with the initiative to keep kids busy and off the streets. Residents of the Area are invited to visit the Micheal Ashcroft Stadium in Independence village and support the annual Footbolito.
