Former Prime Minister and his Spouse Resign from Their Posts

vlcsnap-2014-03-18-18h49m40s226Ex Prime Minister Manuel Esquivel and his wife Kathy Esquivel, have both resigned their posts in what is believed to be a protest of their daughter being squeezed out of the Belize Tourism Board as director.

The two-term former UDP prime minister has resigned from several boards that he sits on and has relinquished his post as senior advisor to Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

Mrs. Kathy Esquivel has also stepped down as chair of the National AIDS Commission.  The resignation letters cited personal reasons as the explanation for the resignations but they come less than a week after their daughter, Laura Frampton, had a very public resignation when the managerial board at BTB held a no confidence vote in Laura’s leadership skills.
