In Tuesday’s news cast we told you about the home invasion in Hopkins that led to the murder of 47 year old Josephine Augustine. According to reports, Josephine was inside this White two story building along with her Husband Disndale Augustine when around 6 o clock on Monday evening, a person or persons forcibly entered the house and attacked them.
When police arrived at the scene Josephine Augustine was observed lying in a pool of blood, with bruises on her left eye and two apparent stab wounds at the back of her neck. Dudley Augustine was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital and later transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital to receive further treatment.
The culprits also stole a green IZUZU trooper, property of Augustine, which they used to escape. Eyewitnesses reported seeing two men of Hispanic decent driving inside the vehicle. The vehicle was discovered abandoned yesterday at mile 28 on the Humming Bird Highway. On Wednesday at around 4:30 am Specialized Units within the Belmopan Police Formation conducted a search operation in the Riviera area in Belmopan targeting illicit activities. During that operation, four men of Hispanic decent, suspected to be connected to the Murder of Josephine Augustine, were detained. All four persons were transported to the Dangriga police station, where police released the men after investigations could not connect them to the crime.
