There were four shooting incidents in the Belize District between last night and this morning. Two of those shootings occurred in Belize City while the other two were in Mahogany Heights and Ladyville. Thanksfully no one was killed but four persons were injured. On Tuesday night around ten police responded to reports of a fight on Angel Lane. 20 year old Porshan Pipersburg of Gabourel Lane received two gunshot wounds to the right thigh. According to reports, Pipersburg was socializing with family at a residence on Angel Lane when he began to act in a disorderly fashion and pulled out knives, threatening family members. 42 year old Martin Guy, Pipersburg’s uncle, intervened and pulled out his licensed 9mm pistol and shot Pipersburg in the thigh in an attempt to subdue him. The uncle is now in police custody pending further investigation……Also on Tuesday night, in Mahogany Heights, resident 21 year old Melvin Smith was shot to the leg while on the street. Police are investigating and have detained one man. …..In Belize City around 12:30 Wednesday morning, 32 year old Elsworth Lanza was shot several times while riding his bicycle home. Lanza is said to be in a stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Police investigations continue. And the final shooting incident happened at Mile 21 1/2 on the Philip Goldson Highway around 2:10 a.m. 21 year old Anthony Zelaya was shot to the leg while in his room. Zelaya was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Police are now investigating and seek two men for questioning.
