Only last week, Galen University band released its new album of gospel music titled, “I am the Alpha and the Omega”, but is there a move to shift the focus of Galen in a completely different direction?
This morning, Plus News was called to the Galen University Belmopan campus because we were told that police and shareholders were at the Galen campus and had the place under siege.
We tried to get in touch with Dr. Zabaneh, President of Galen and Chairman of the Board, only to understand that he was removed from the campus by police, allegedly without a court order.
We understand that Dr. Zabaneh, who is a minority shareholder in Galen owning 19%, was trying for the last couple of months to acquire funding to get the 51% controlling share. We don’t know what happened from there but it now appears to be a hostile takeover.
We understand that the shareholders, including Dr. Zabaneh, are in meetings this afternoon along with their lawyers.
In the meantime, we also have been reliably informed that Doug Singh, former Minister of Government and advocate for the decriminalization of marijuana, is the new Chairman. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on further developments.
