Global Day of Prayer observed on Sunday

A day of repentance and united prayer – the Global Day of Prayer will be observed this coming Sunday. It is a time when believers from all over the world unite for corporate submission to God and Here is Pastor Lance Lewis, with the history of Global Day of Prayer.

Pastor Lance Lewis – Global Day Of Prayer Coordinator:
vlcsnap-2013-05-17-19h22m01s6Global Day of Prayer is a day when Christian from all over the World gather together to pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  It started in the year 2000 in Capetown, and then by 2002 it was all over South Africa.  After that it went all across the World.  The vision came to a gentleman by the name of Graham Powell, who was particularly touched by the verse, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and heal their land.  So there was that great need in South Africa first, to gather together people of that place, Capetown, for prayer, but then the burden became greater that we need to have a world-wide prayer movement.

Since then, Global of Prayer has been recognized on the Day of Pentecost, which in the book of Acts, is the day when the Spirit of God descended on the church. And in Belize, Christians from all denominations will be fellowshipping together. On the agenda is a host of issues prevalent in our society, Pastor Lance explained.

Pastor Lance Lewis – Global Day Of Prayer Coordinator:
vlcsnap-2013-05-17-19h21m45s113Belize has a serious problem right now with crime.  We have had several murders, and we thought there was a lull, but it has spiked up.  We also have the problem of domestic violence, child abuse.  We have the recent move by Orosco versus the Attorney General, for the sodomy laws of Belize to be changed.
We also have to pray for the Government of Belize, to pray for the Prime Minister, the Opposition Leader, the Governor General, all these persons.  We have to pray for the media.  The media has a tremendous power in Belize, and influences persons’ minds.  So we have to pray for the media.
We have to pray for the churches. We have to pray for the pastors.  We have to pray for those in charge of the Police, the BDF Commander, the police commander.  We have to pray for these persons.  These persons are on the front line.
We also have the issue of the border dispute, which although the Referendum will not be held in October, it eventually will be held. It’s a major decision for our Nation. It’s a major decision between Belize and Guatemala, and therefore we have to be ready to pray, and do not wait for some time next year. We have to be vigilant.  We have to be praying.   .

Other issues will include those that are on the international stage. Again, you can go out to the Agriculture and Trade Show Grounds, Main Stage in Belmopan, and in Belize City at 5:30pm and at the Westside Assembly Church of God, at 6pm.
