The Gospel Fest 2013 was held over the weekend in Belmopan. The event which took place at the Agriculture and Trade Show Grounds, kicked off early Saturday morning with a welcome ceremony, followed by a full day of entertainment and presentations. Christian-based ministries and organizations set up display booths to show case their work, while children enjoyed a kiddie’s corner decked with fun activities and a kid’s ministry. In the night, concert goers flocked to the grounds for a night of musical festivities featuring both International and Belizean artists in the likes of Six Day Creation, Dennis Gee, and Durant Acapella, among others. Jamaican Christian Dancehall artist DJ Nicholas took the stage as well. Pulling out some of his old hits, the show grounds soon erupted into Holy Ghost bashment.
International Guest Speaker Pastor Steven Sexton also addressed the crowd, giving a moving presentation. Sunday morning was more mellow, with a corporate church service and worship with several spiritual leaders. Pastor Sexton delivered the main message.
Pastor Steven Sexton – Guest Speaker
The problem with some Christians is we try to live in the lap of God. And the lap should get you out, to encourage you and better you so you can go out to the world.
And we’ve got a lot of believers that want to live in the lap and they only want to receive God’s love, and [they say] if I could only hear God tell me how awesome I am, and wonderful I am, and great I am, and listen, all of that is for a purpose. God does do that, but he does that to send you. We cannot, as believers, live in the lap. We go to it, and we get what we need, and we go out to the world. And when we get discouraged, we go to the lap, and then we come out. We go in, and we come out.
Sponsors of the Expo included The Word at Work and Banana Bank Lodge, among others.
