The driver for the Foreign Minister and the Auditor General was reportedly busted with weed at the UDP convention on Sunday August 3rd. According to reports, thirty six year old Dorian Albert Avilez was entering the ITVET compound for the UDP convention, when an officer posted at the ITVET compound conducted a search on him. As a result of the search, in his right side pants pocket, he found a transparent plastic bag containing weed, which amounted to 7.1 grams. Mr Avilez was detained and escorted to the Queen Street Police Station. On Tuesday he appeared before the unrepresented at the Magistrate’s court, where he was read a single count of possession of controlled drugs. He pleaded not guilty to the offence and was offered bail of $800 and a surety of the same amount. However he was unable to post bail at this time since he owes the court $2,900 dollars for a conviction for ammunition which was imposed in 2003 and had failed to pay in full. Dorian Avilez goes back to court on September 25th, 2014.
