Gun Found in Well Known Pastor’s House

Police arrested and charged 5 persons today including a 15 year old minor all from the Village of Roaring Creek, Belmopan for the possession of guns and ammunition. According to reports, based on information police visited the house of a well known pastor in Roaring Creek this morning. Through the power of a warrant police proceeded to search the household and in a bedroom inside the house reportedly found a single handgun with ammunition. Inside the bedroom at the time was one 18 year old Ari Vanzie, who, according to police, admitted to possession of the firearm. But here is where the story gets a little complicated. Police arrested all five individuals present inside the house including a well known pastor and his wife and a 15 year old minor. All five individuals were arraigned in court today and were shuttled away to the Belize Central Prison. However late this evening, the Director of Public Prosecutions Cherylynn Vidal advised the police department to release all 4 other individuals. According to the DPP and we quote,  “According to the facts, the firearm was found in a bedroom with an individual who said that the firearm belonged to him, and in those circumstances, legally, the police had no authority to arrest and charged everybody who was in the house.” Reliable sources inform us that the removal warrant was given this evening and the four individuals will come out of prison today.
