Home invasion in Belize City

There was a home invasion in Belize City on Monday July 25. According to 75-year old Maria Sylvestre, sometime after 2:30 p.m., while at her home on Princess Margaret Drive with her daughter and her son-in-law, two male persons rushed inside the living room. Sylvestre reported to police that one of the men was of Mestizo descent armed with what appeared to be a handgun. The other was dark skinned and slim built. The perpetrator then pointed the gun at them and ordered the daughter and son-in-law to lie face down on the floor. They were then robbed of a gold chain valued at $1,000, two iPhones and a camera. The perpetrator then walked into the kitchen and pointed the gun at the maid and took her to the safe and forced her to open it where they took assorted jewelries amounting to approximately $50,000, US $20,000 cash and two Apple iPads valued at $500 each. Also stolen from the maid were two cell phones. The thieves made off with a total of $96,500 in goods and cash. The two perpetrators ran down the steps where they met and assaulted the care taker. Both assailants then ran down Princess Margaret Drive making good their escape. Police investigations continue.//[
