The trio of Immigration officers accused of aiding former Minister of State Elvin Penner in his misadventures find themselves subject to inquiry by the Public Service. On Thursday CEO in the Ministry of Immigration and Nationality, Candelaria Saldivar-Morter, indicated that the investigation is closing down and the Public Service Commission will shortly receive the results.

“What is happening right now, we have three officers on suspension by the Public Service Commission. We are presently putting together the files to be submitted to the Commission for a hearing if necessary…if we find it necessary, and then after then we may…the Commission will set a date for a hearing. After that we’ll be able to say what the fines are. But at this time, the case…the proceedings have started, we are not able to disclose any information as to what we are to”.
The Minister, Godwin Hulse, insisted that the investigation had to take its course.

“As we said, in going through what we were doing as administrative investigations, it was two-fold. It as to find out what has gone wrong and how it gone wrong and also the how was what it merits to say okay! Then we need to fix this, we need to fix that, we need to fix the other. So, clearly, this is part of that. As we said before…as I said before, it is out of the wrongs that you bring the rights. Let me inaugurate a little bit: One of the weaknesses that everybody has heard is files that you can’t. So, there is no way we can compare and correlate those documents that were floating around to files. This system intends to arrest that because if a file were going missing, again, [and we cannot guarantee it won’t], but your Certificate embodies enough data to assure people in the past Section or elsewhere that is openly”.
