Independence Village Council employee robbed of day’s deposit

The Independence Village Council Office was robbed today sometime after 9 a.m.  Village Council employee Dillon Torres, recently hired in December 2015, reported that he was about to go to the bank to make a deposit on behalf of the Independence Village Council but realized he had forgotten the deposit book at the office. He says that upon returning to the Village Council Office to pick up the deposit book, an armed, masked male person over 6 feet tall and dressed in full black clothes, accosted him and hit him to the jaw. Torres was relieved of $3,400.00 by the armed robber, which represents 25% of the Council’s monthly income. Beside the money, the council lost information in the form of receipt stubs reflecting garbage fee payments that had been made by residents. Police are investigating.
