Indian nationals in Court on Immigration charges

Yesterday we reported on another group of Indian nationals who were caught entering Belize illegally through the Western Border. This would make a second group in two weeks. The group of eleven, two of whom are women, were caught on Tuesday morning at around 2am. Police set chase on the group, after the vehicle they were traveling in sped across the bridge over the Macal River. When they reached near Three Flags in Santa Cruz, the driver stopped the truck, hopped out and ran away. The eleven Indians nationals were captured and today they were arraigned in the San Ignacio Magistrate’s court. All of them were charged with illegal entry. Today, each was fined $1,000 for the offense and were ordered deported to their country after their fines are paid. If any of them fails to pay the $1,000, Magistrate Narda Morgan ordered that they are to spend 6 months at the Hattieville prison.
