Injunction Sought in Belmopan Wooden Building Case

vlcsnap-2014-04-24-19h44m30s5vlcsnap-2014-04-24-19h46m13s29Abner Valladares and his wife have still not been able to place their wooden building fitted for a boutique on their Belmopan property.

We had reported to you that Valladarez went through all the necessary procedures to get approval for the building, or at least he thought so, but the day he actually tried to put the house down on the land, he was stopped by City council and his wooden house removed without his permission.

Valladares is taking the matter to court and an application for an interim injunction is being sought.

The case was to proceed today before Justice Sonia Young in Belize City; however the representatives for the other side, Michael Peyrefitte and Deputy Solicitor General Nigel Hawke, asked for time to respond to affidavits filed by Valladares’ attorney, Audrey Matura-Shepherd.

Madam Justice Young granted the extra time and set the case for 9:00 a.m. on June 10, 2014.
