Today is the last of the four days of events to celebrate the competition which is the track and field day. We started this morning with a marathon which went all the way to the roundabout and  back into the grounds , around the field two times. Then it went on to egg toss, watermelon eating contest, balloon toss, 100m, 200m, 400m… high jump was a big event and now we are doing the shot-put element.

“These are youths who who, for particular reasons, found themselves outside of the regular school system and have enrolled in these programs to; strengthen their academic ability, strengthen their vocational, strengthen their life skills, so that they too can get back to the real educational system or they too can live a productive life. “

”How is it important to engage in this event?”

Luke Ramos

“It’s so important because with sports, it helps to promote team work, competitiveness, a healthy life style. Besides that, it helps to strengthen their athletic skills and most importantly, we get to identify those who are extremely good and award them for that performance.”

4H Youth Center were the overall winners of the series of events. Luke Ramos says the committee will try and get more institutions that do similar work to join their efforts and participate in the annual Inter Institutional Sporting Competition .
