IOM and Galen sign agreement

The United Nations Migration Agency (IOM) and Galen University signed a cooperation agreement to launch a new program that will play a key role in the development of the National Migration and Development Policy for Belize. The Agreement was signed on the 6th of April, and the program will be fully funded by the IOM. According to a release by the University, the purpose of the program is to build the capacities of state institutions, civil society organizations, international missions, academia and the private sector. The program hopes to address the various issues of migration including human rights of migrants, trafficking in persons, migrant smuggling and labour migration, among other topics, at the front line and policymaker’s level. The cost of the program is being sponsored by IOM and is accredited as a three-credit course by Galen University
