Magistrate Clive Lino was lenient with an offender who stood before him on Thursday. 19 year old Jason Young was arraigned on a charge of weed possession. The arrest of Young came Wednesday, August 7, 2013, on Castle Street. Police on mobile patrol and stopped and searched Young after he was seen acting suspiciously. Young was searched when one of the officers realized he had something in his mouth. He was instructed to open his mouth and out dropped 2.6 grams of marijuana. Young wasted no time this morning and pleaded guilty to the charge but he asked the magistrate for leniency saying that his birthday is coming up ina few days time and he doesn’t want to be in prison to celebrate it. He also told the judge he would never go back to court for any other charge. Magistrate Lino was lenient enough and imposed a non-custodial sentence where Young was fined $400 plus a $5.00 cost of court which he was ordered to pay by November 15, 2013, in default 4 months imprisonment. This is Jason Young’s second conviction for drug possession.
