Keyon Cleland Sentenced to Five Years Behind Bars

vlcsnap-2014-05-21-18h30m53s224This afternoon, 33 year old Keion Cleland of North Creek Road began a five-year stretch in the Central Prison after pleading guilty to firearms and drug charges.

Cleland will serve three concurrent five-year terms for possession of a firearm without a gun license, possession of ammunition without a gun license and drug trafficking.

Officers of the Gang Suppression Unit visited a residence on North Creek, located behind Wesley Methodist Upper School, with a search warrant at around 4:30 this morning and recovered a firearm, extended magazine and 12 grams of cannabis.

The charge was raised from possession of controlled drugs to drug trafficking because of the location where it was found.

Also charged were 42 year old school warden Daphne Grant and a 13 year old minor, both residing with Cleland.

However, Cleland pleaded guilty before Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith, allowing the prosecutor to drop the charges against the other accused.
