Two inspiring women capable of instigating major change coming together through ComplexdWoman magazine to discuss Mrs. Barrow’s efforts to raise funds for the Belize Children’s Trust made it the most memorable moment in 2013.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow and Mrs. Barrow were first featured in the Island issue of ComplexdWoman magazine in 2011.  Mrs. Barrow’s courage, determination to battle cancer and continue to raise awareness about the disease led to her gracing the cover of the Women of Strength issue in 2012.

vlcsnap-2014-01-03-01h10m03s199During this time the ComplexdWoman team had the opportunity to organise an official visit for Mrs. Barrow at Evelina Children’s Hospital at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.  A visit the Editor-in-Chief felt would give Mrs. Barrow the opportunity to speak to Pediatric surgeons in the UK and look at the facilities available to gather ideas and draw up plans for education and healthcare support initiatives they plan to implement in Belize.

vlcsnap-2014-01-03-01h10m40s173It was during this visit that Mrs. Barrow met with Neonatal surgery and Pediatric colorectal surgery specialist Dorothy Kufeji.  After getting acquainted with Mrs. Barrow, Mrs. Kufeji later attended The Belize Children’s Trust Charity Gala and donated generously. She also vowed to offer professional support when the intensive care facility is built.

While wrapping up editorials for the year, the Editor-in-Chief of ComplexdWoman magazine reflects, “its been an absolute honour featuring and getting to know Mrs. Barrow, she encapsulates such a varied range of ComplexdWomen we feature, she’s ambitious with an innate activist streak, she’s fun, fearless and fashionable, but most of all she understands the power of being a woman who speaks out and uses her feminine charm for worthy causes, which we will continue to support in 2014″.
