Kim Simplis Barrow on four-day visit to Taiwan

vlcsnap-2013-08-28-08h12m49s98The office of Special Envoy for Women and Children Kim Simplis Barrow confirmed on Tuesday that she has left on a visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) for a four-day visit. Official details are not forthcoming but according to the China Post website, the visit is to “learn more about efforts by Taiwanese charity groups to care for disadvantaged groups and explore further cooperation on humanitarian aid.” Among the persons she will be meeting is Dharma Master Cheng Yen, who established the Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation in the eastern county of Hualien to help the poor and relieve suffering, according to the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan. The Foundation now has offices in 40 countries. Mrs. Barrow’s visit concludes on September 1.
