A 26 year old construction worker was shot to death on the front porch, of the second floor, of his Hattie Ville home. 26 year old Philmore King is Belize’s latest murder victim. King made the news in April of this year when he was busted by Police with approximately 50 pounds of Canabis at the Belize Northern Border while coming from Chetumal along with 3 companions in two vehicles. According to Police, a teenager has been detained for the murder.
Wilfredo Ferrufino, National Crimes Investigations Branch: On the 9th of June sometime around 7:45am, the police responded to shots been fired at Peter Lewis Street, Hattieville Area. Upon arrival, police discovered the body of Philmore King in the verandah of his residence and had suffered from gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene and the police had detained one Daniel Arnold: a 19 year old resident of Hattieville. On the 10th of June, he was formally charged for the murder of Mr. King
Our Media Colleagues in Belize City were able to speak to one of King’s Sisters. She was asked if she has any idea who would want to kill her brother. Here is how she responded
Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased: I honestly don’t know; he was just a loving person. If he’s not with his friends he’s at home with us, me and his little sister, so I don’t know how to answer that question for you.
Reporter: Do you know of any recent beef he had with anybody anything that he spoke of recently?
Tasheena King, Sister of Deceased: He didn’t speak of any beef or said that he had any beef, but as far as I know, he didn’t have any beef because he’s always at home, so there is no time for beefing. It had to be somebody who knew that he was sitting there just holding a conversation and just waiting on his opportunity to do what he wanted to do, not realizing what he was going to do to us so I don’t know. My brother was only 26.
