Kraft Cheese Slices May Cause Choking!

The Belize Agricultural Health Authority sent out a joint press release with the Ministry of Health and the Belize Bureau of Standards advising the public of a recall on wrapped American Cheese Slices. The Kraft Heinz foods Company is a common good imported from the United States. It is found on every local convenient store in Belize and is known best for it’s kraft Mac and Cheese,  Velveta, and of course sliced cheese. On vlcsnap-2015-09-09-21h05m48s98September 3rd the Kraft Heinz food Company issued a voluntary recall on select code dates and manufacturing codes of individual wrapped American Cheese slices. We are only getting this notice today September 9th, days after the notice was made in the US. the notice said that there is a possibility that a thin strip of the individual packaging film may remain adhered to the slice after the wrapper has been removed. This could potentially cause a choking hazard. Consumers are being advised not to purchase or consume any of these items from any retail establishment. Furthermore retail establishments have the obligatio to prevent these items from entering the public food chain by removing it from their shelves. Additionally consumers can report any retail establishments that continue to market these products. The press release said that as announced by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the product being affected by the recall is particularly related to manufacturing Code “s54” or “s55.” You can see a full detail of the products on the recall list in our website.
