On Friday December 4th, 29 year old Mark Antonio Rosales, a Belizean Farmer of Cristo Rey Village, was arrested and charged for 24 counts of obtaining property by deception. Rosales was arraigned before the Magistrate’s Court where Judge Ladona John remanded him to Central Prison until February 10th 2016. According to the complainant, he was in a store in Orange Walk Town where he met Rosales who convinced him that he was an immigration officer. Rosales then asked him if he was a Belizean or if he had residency and promised to help him get his papers. The complainant said that sometime between August 20th and October 5th, he made 22 deposits in Rosales’ Bank Account. When he made the final deposit, he decided to make checks at the immigration office in Belmopan, and to his shock, Rosales had never worked there, and had not applied for residency on his behalf.
