The poet and entertainer popularly known as Leroy “The Grandmaster” Young was in court on Wednesday accused of forgery, uttering a false document and possession of a false document. The 46 year old self-employed resident of Pinks Alley is alleged to have obtained a cheque leaf from a Belize Bank chequebook stolen from former Pinks Alley neighbor Carlos Walker, now living in Mahogany Heights. The cheque book was stolen Walker’s house on Pinks Alley was broken into sometime ago. Leroy Young then wrote out a cheque on the single stub for one hundred dollars and on October 25, he allegedly tried to cash it at Wellworth Store in Market Square, not far from the Bank’s offices. He appeared on Wednesday before Chief Magistrate Ann-Marie Smith who offered him bail of $500. His next court date is December 18.
