Lower electricity rates

Belize Electricity Ltd has requested permission of the Public Utilities Commission to lower electricity rates by 10%. In an application on Wednesday April 1, BEL proposes to lower the average electricity rate from 41.29 cents to 37 cents per kilowatt hour.   The PUC will be reviewing the proposal and will make a decision within 21 days. The new rate is to take effect in July, 2015. BEL also says it plans to install additional streetlights in crime hotspots countrywide
