Three security guards participating in a routine escort were held up last Thursday, July 17 on Oleander Street. Police have now charged 23 year old Francis Arana with two counts of robbery and one count of aggravated assault. According to Marlon Wade, employed with Fort Point Security Services, they had pulled up in a Ford Ranger pickup truck in front of 11 Shop on Oleander Street around 10:30 a.m. when three men, one of whom was armed with a .38 revolver and masked by stocking over his face, held them up. Francis Arana lost his black 9mm pistol with 12 live rounds in the magazine valued at $2,000, while fellow guard Eddie Arnold had his black Samsung cell phone valued at $1,200 stolen. Nothing was taken from the third guard, Chester McLaren, but he did have the .38 pointed at him. Francis Arana was sent back to prison by Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer until September 26 after entering a not guilty plea. He was already on remand for an unrelated firearm offence.
