The village of Independence in the Stann Creek District is in a state of shock, and Police in the area are trying to unfold the mysterious death of an employee of the village council, who at the time of his untimely death was the caretaker of the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence village. The victim has been identified as 24 years old Ferris Shane Torres, a resident of the said village. A member of the village council reported the deceased might have been dead since 1 a.m. Thursday morning , after the heavy rains. Shortly after 8 a.m. this morning, Mr Torres body was found lying face down at the entrance of the door of his home of abode in the Stadium, located underneath the bleachers, with his pants off and apparently dead. Police say that since there were no major signs of violence on his body, except for minor ones on his knees, they are suspecting that Ferris Torres might have been strangled. Police continue their investigation, while his body awaits a post-mortem examination, and are seeking one person of interest. Ferris Torres would have celebrated his 25th birthday this Friday.
Ferris Torres, we were told, was found lying face down by the door to his room, which is situated underneath the bleachers inside the stadium. He was not wearing pants and there was blood on his knees. We were told that no other injuries were seen, except, according to a medical doctor, abrasions on his mouth which suggest that he may have been strangled. His body has since been transported to Belize city for forensic analysis.
