According to reports, 49 year old Alfred Kelvin was walking on Seaweed Street at around 2:05 am on Saturday, May 31st, when someone fired a single gunshot, fatally wounding him in the right eye.
Supt. Louis Castellanos, Officer Commanding San Pedro Police Station gave us some details of the ongoing investigation
“The San Pedro police received information of one single shot fired in the San Juan Area. As a result, police visited the area. Upon arrival, at Seaweed Street with the corner of Sandpiper Street, the lifeless body a dark male person was seen lying on the face-up, with what appeared to be a single gunshot to the right eye. Initial investigation revealed that about 2:00 a. m. on the same day, Alfred Kelvin, also known as Scott, 49 years Belizean unemployed of San Juan Area, San Pedro Town, was walking on Seaweed Street heading towards Camiseta Street when a single gunshot was heard and as a result, he received a fatal injury”.
So far we are still investigating as to what was the motive”.
According to Castellanos, while Alfred Kelvin is not known to be engaged in gang related activities, he is not unknown to criminal activities.
Supt. Luis Castellanos: “We know the individual as a drug user, that he was brought here on the 16th April for a charge of harm against a female and..he is known to the police”.
A post-mortem examination on the body of Alfred Kevlin was scheduled to conclude sometime this evening. Police continue to investigate.
