Man who slit wife’s throat pleads guilty to manslaughter

53 year old Ermit Bradley, who killed his 54 year old wife Nirba at her workplace in July of 2008, pleaded guilty to manslaughter today and will serve a further five years in prison. The incident occurred on July 4, 2008 at Espat Poultry, located in Santa Elena, Cayo. When Bradley went to her work place and asked her about her brother’s wedding which was to take place the following day, she told him that she was not taking him to the wedding; she was taking her boss. An enraged Bradley then took out a knife and slit her throat. The father of four appeared today before Justice Denis Hanomansingh and expressed remorse for his misdeed. Also speaking on his behalf was attorney Leo Bradley and 2 character witnesses. Officially, Bradley was sentenced to 15 years. But 10 years was subtracted from his sentence – 2 years because he pled guilty and 8 years for the time he has spent in prison. Therefore, he will only serve 5 years with effect from April 21, 2016. The case was a re-trial; when Bradley first went on trial in 2013 at Belmopan Supreme Court the jury was unable to reach a verdict.vlcsnap-2016-05-16-14h57m29s889
