When the police van reached the Cotton Tree pedestrian ramp, 29 year old prisoner Edwin Paula jumped out and escaped. Police are now looking for him.   Mr. Edwin Paula was on remand for various crimes and we have featured him in our newscast on multiple occasions.

On June 5th of last year, Mr. Paula, along with three other men, were charged with the murder of 43 year old Isabel Balona, who was shot to the head three days prior.

The four men were also slapped with three counts of robbery. In addition, they were charged with 9 counts of aggravated burglary, in connection to an incident which occurred on May 8th, at the student dormitory at the University of Belize Belmopan Campus.

vlcsnap-2014-02-04-17h03m57s251 As we reported, sometime after 8:30 p.m., six armed men wearing masks broke into the dorm, held the students hostage for some 15 minutes and stole an assortment of items.

But that’s not the end of Mr. Paula’s rap sheet.  He is also facing charges for 2 counts of possession for an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

In mid June, we showed you Paula’s mother pleading for lenience for her son, alleging that he was brutally assaulted by Police.

But tonight, Mr. Paula is on the run and he is considered an extremely dangerous individual.

Anyone having knowledge of Edwin Paula’s whereabouts is asked to contact the nearest Police Station.
