Man’s decomposing body found in Maxboro

Police are investigating yet another murder in the Belize District, this one in the residential subdivision of Maxboro. It is not yet clear to police who wanted 31 year old Leon Leslie Sr., residing in house 271 in the subdivision, dead, but it was clear that the deed was accomplished several days ago, as police found himlying on a sofa apparently dead with what appears to be cut wounds to the neck and chest area and in a state of decomposition. “On Monday the 13 , April 2015, around Police responded to a report of a body that was found at Maxboro. Police proceeded to the area, where upon arrival they found the lifeless body of Leon Leslie Sr., 31 years old inside the residence in a seated position on a sofa, apparently dead. The body was partly decomposed. He had stab wounds to the chest and neck area.”

“Could you tell us the condition of the area in which he was found? Was there signs of a struggle or anything?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“I will not get to the exact details of where he was found. Like I mentioned, he had stab wounds and he was alone at the house at the time.”

“Was anything stolen?”

“Was there force entry?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We see no signs of forced entry.”

 

Supt. Romero says police’s investigations have narrowed to persons “of suspicious character” seen hanging out at the residence recently.

“Our investigation so far is revealing that some persons of questionable character were hanging out with him at that house prior to when he was found, and that is all the information that we have. We are trying to find some persons of interest that could assist in this investigation.”

“Do you know how many?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We are not sure how many.

 

Reporter

”Have the police detained anybody at this time?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“So far no one has been detained. “

 

Reporter

“Do you believe there was some sort of argument that happened?”

Supt. Hilberto Romero

Like I said, we are not sure what happened. He lives by himself there.”

Was this person, Leon Leslie, was he known to the police?”

 

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We have done some searches at his residents prior to that and that is all we have. Persons of quetionable character where hanging out there. “

”Who found the body?”

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“Two children that were returning from school.”

“Has the murder weapon been recovered?”

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“No it has not been recovered.”
