Maurice Tomlinson case continues before CCJ

vlcsnap-2014-07-25-06h02m24s14On Thursday morning a short case management conference was held between the parties in the original jurisdiction case of Maurice Tomlinson vs. Belize and Trinidad and Tobago. Maurice Tomlinson, a gay Jamaican residing in Canada, is seeking the court to overturn provisions of each country’s immigration law which he says discriminates against him by prohibiting him from entering Belize, despite his visiting both countries before he came to know of the law. Each country’s legal team is to file its defense by September 16, but no date has been set for the actual trial. Tomlinson received special leave to file the application after failing to get his native Jamaica to apply on his behalf .
