Minister Condemns His Officers

Late yesterday evening the Minister of National Security Hon. John Saldivar through the Government issued a press release where he expressed his condolences to the family of 18 year old Hilberto Sotz who died under the care of authorities of the law. The press release state that the Honourable Minister of National Security, John Saldivar, quote, “..condemns the alleged use of unwarranted personal violence by PC Leonard Nunez and PC Hallet King and the apparent neglect of duty by all other Police Officers that were at the Caye Caulker Police station at the time of the incident; who seemly stood by and were slovenly inactive during this entire ordeal.” Those persons referred to by the Minister have been placed on interdiction. They are Cpl. Kirby Palma, WPC Bernadette Ramos and PC Edilberto Patt. Two senior police officers have since been deployed to the island to replace the ones on interdiction and to ensure that continuous policing services are provided. Those senior officers are Inspector Dehanne Augustine and senior non commissioned officer, Sergeant Norman Benguche. The Minister of National Security reiterated that, quote,  “The Minister and Ministry of National Security assure the family as well as the citizenry that a thorough and transparent criminal, as well as internal investigation will be conducted and all those that are found culpable will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.”
