There was a traffic accident over the weekend involving a Government vehicle, allegedly being driven at the time by a Minister’s daughter. After 1 o’clock on Saturday afternoon, Melvin Escobar was driving his motorcycle in the Las Flores area of Belmopan and as he was crossing an intersection, a vehicle exited that intersection and hit him. Mr Escobar was flung almost 10 feet from his bike. He sustained minor scratches and bruises, but thankfully was not seriously hurt. His bike on the other hand, received extensive damages. According to witnesses, the woman was speeding and found in the vehicle were empty beer bottles. When we spoke to Melvin Escobar today, he informed us that if the Police don’t do anything about it, he will press charges. We spoke with Superintendent Sinquest Martinez this evening, who informed us that a Notice of Intended Prosecution has been served not only to the Minister’s daughter but also on the bike rider, Escobar.
