It may not be news that a minor would steal a parent’s car to go “joy-riding”, but it is news when that minor ends up in a speed chase with the police. That is exactly what happened Friday morning around 9:15 on Coney Drive. It appears that police observed an accident involving a flat bed truck but the driver of the truck sped off with police pursuing him on Coney Drive. As the truck was approaching Trade Winds Advertising, it flipped over, landing in a drain. The driver received minor injuries and when police pulled him out, they found that he was 16 years old. The 16 year old driver is a mechanic who does business with his friend that lives abroad in the US. The father sells cars and vehicles for the friend. It appears from Thursday night the minor went in the yard where the truck was parked on Coney drive and bypassed the security. On Friday morning his father was shocked to find out that the minor had the truck. On scene Friday morning the father was in rage, scolding his son for running off with the vehicle. The father told us he doesn’t know what to do because his business is doing badly and he doesn’t know how he will pay his friend for the truck which is valued at seventeen thousand dollars.
