Last month we reported on the missing persons report made for Lydia Janet Garcia Giron and yesterday, February 9, the missing woman’s body was found in an orchard in Dangriga. On the 19th of January, a missing persons report was filed for the 39 year old woman by her son who told Belizean police that Garcia had left her home in Melchor Doe Mencos on Friday January 8th to go to a Banana Farm in the open area of the Stann Creek District. She contacted her son when she arrived in San Ignacio Town that same morning, but that was the last time he heard from her and so reported her mssing some 11 days later. According to Giron’s 19 year old son, Alexander Giron, his mother was meeting up with a man known to them only as “El Nica”. Sometime after 3 o’clock yesterday, police in Dangriga discovered the body in an orchard about 6 miles on the Hummingbird Highway.. A post mortem examination was conducted on the body and the cause of death has been listed as blunt force trauma to the head. Police are investigating this latest homicide.
