For the past couple of days, a mission team has been in Belize helping church organizations . The group is from Iowa and has been here for a week. As the team landed, they headed down south to help Pastor Vic Hernandez of Punta Gorda. Tom Treptau, Director of Village Creek Bible Camp, told us more.
Tom Treptau, Director of Village Creek Bible Camp
We flew in, we drove straight down to Punta Gorda to work with Pastor Victor Hernandez in Jacintoville and then he has a bodega in Punta Gorda that TJ’s organization delivered an entire container load of Christian materials; bibles, bible study, resources for kids, all sorts of great Christian materials that we were able to organize down at the warehouse in Punta Gorda and then get delivered out to many different areas around the country.
It is not only the churches who are receiving help however, as the team has also spent some time in the villages outside of Punta Gorda.
After we organized the material, we spent two days in the small villages down near Punta Gorda. We went down through Midway, we went down to Baranco we went through Conejo and all the way up to Sunday Wood Village. We did a church service in Sunday Wood with the generator on and had a wonderful time worshiping and fellow-shipping with the community of Sunday Wood. From there then on Saturday we did a large distribution where pastors from all over southern Belize came to the warehouse and picked up materials for their churches for the different communities and so we distributed thousands of bibles, and books and Sunday school materials, bible study materials to different people. Probably 300,400 different people came in to the building that day to pick up materials.
